November 11th, 4:00-6:00 pm EST 2023

This 2 hour live online demonstration took place on Zoom all students will receive access to recording, for future review or if you cannot join that day.

This class will expand on the techniques and materials introduced in Part 1: Direct Concrete Sculpting. In Part 2 we will concentrate on the characteristics of the cement itself, application techniques and building substructures.

I recommend anyone who attends the class purchase and review Part 1 before we begin as that information will not be covered again.

Concrete is an amazing and versatile material, we will concentrate on using it in a Ferrocement or ferro-cement technique which is a system of construction using reinforced mortar (lime or cement, sand and water) applied over an "armature" of metal mesh, woven expanded-metal or metal-fibers and closely spaced thin steel rods such as rebar.

It is fast, low tec and you can really do it anywhere. All skill levels are welcome.

I built a home depot cart of materials and tools you can pull from. If you have the tools no need to get new ones just the mortar, lath and tie wire.

You can add rebar or metal bar stock to use as a substructure as well if you want to do more complex forms. I would recomend 1/8” bar for small objects larger if you have the equipment to work it.
